How UTB has supported charities in 2021

Many of our amazing staff still find the time to support charities which help people in need.

The Bank’s Charity of the Year is DePaul which aims to help homeless young people get off the streets and off to a fresh start. Throughout 2021 we have held several bank-wide fund raising events and activities. In addition, working with brokers and other industry friends, a further sum was raised at the Bridging & Commercial Awards 2021 of which UTB were the main sponsor. This generous donation was split between DePaul and the Big Life Foundation, a charity which helps to protect vital eco-systems in Africa.

Christmas time can be especially difficult for homeless people and this year we are also helping DePaul provide Christmas lunches to homeless youngsters by donating the equivalent of a Christmas lunch for each member of our staff, that’s over 300 hot and tasty meals to people who otherwise may have struggled to find something to eat on Christmas Day.

Throughout the year we have also supported Food Bank Aid, by donating fresh fruit and vegetables for a period of 6 weeks. Our staff have also had the opportunity to volunteer at the Finchley Hub. A recent donation drive by staff has provided much needed essentials to keep families stocked up over the festive season. Partnerships like this are helping to tackle food poverty which becomes even more difficult for families to manage at this time of year.

Finally, we had a bit of Christmas fun creating an online mini-game featuring our brand mascot, Elvis the Eagle Owl. ‘Santa Owl is Coming to Town’ was a Christmas Prize Draw for our brokers and other professional partners with the added incentive of UTB making a charity donation for every entry. The campaign was a big success.
