Hybrid Role 

Role Purpose: 

To be responsible for the allocation of work, motivation and monitoring of  team of mortgage underwriters and assistant underwriters, processing first an  second charge lending products.

Responsibilities:

• Make lending decisions in line with Credit Risk Policy and individual mandate level
• Work alongside the Offer and Completion Manager and the Team Managers to provide internal training, coaching and monitoring of team members.
• Work with the Sales Department and the Team Managers to provide external support to our network of national introducers
• Assist in the allocation of new residential and buy to let applications, incoming post and pre-submission referrals
• Ensure that applications are processed within set service standards and in line with key performance indicators
• In the absence of the Underwriting Manager, complete people management activity within the team, including monthly 1 to 1’s, performance monitoring and objective reviews
• Conduct regular first line quality checks and feedback results
• Adhere to internal underwriting policy and regulatory requirements – FCA, PRA, Money Laundering, Prevention of Financial Crime, Data Protection etc
• Identify opportunities and proactively make recommendations for continuous improvement
• Undertake project and ad-hoc pieces of work at management request

Skills and Experience sought:

• Previous underwriting, credit or lending exposure within a first or second mortgage environment
• Strong understanding of the regulatory environment
• Managing and prioritising work for a team of people
• Liaising with Introducers and/or external customers
• Currently holds a lending mandate
• CeMAP qualified
