New Lending Manager | Mortgages

Role Purpose

To work as part of the Senior Management Team within the Residential Underwriting function, with primary responsibility for the pre offer element of the loan application process. To successfully manage Team Leaders, and work with the Sales Department and our Brokers to foster a best in class application process across a mixture of First Charge Mortgages, BTL and Second Charge Loans.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Make lending decisions in line with Credit Risk Policy, Responsible Lending Policy and individual Mandate level.
  • To ensure that applications are processed within set service standards and in line with key performance indicators.
  • Work with the Head of Residential Mortgages, Offer and Completion Manager, Head of BTL, QA Manager and Customer Experience Manager to provide feedback, training needs, underwriting support and continuous improvement.
  • Complete people management activity, including quarterly 1 to 1’s, performance monitoring and objective reviews
  • Work with the Sales Department and the Team Managers to provide external support to our network of national introducers
  • Adhere to internal policy and regulatory requirements – FCA, PRA, AML, Prevention of Financial Crime, Data Protection etc.
  • Identify opportunities and proactively make recommendations for continuous improvement.

 

Skills and Experience 

  • Previous team management, underwriting, credit or lending exposure within a first or second mortgage environment
  • Strong understanding of the regulatory environment
  • Managing and prioritising work for a team of people
  • CeMap qualified, or part qualified
  • Currently holds a lending mandate
  • Liaising with internal stakeholders, Introducers and/or external customer
