Assistant Credit Officer | Credit

Job description
This is a hybrid role working 3 days in the office (City of London location) and 2 days working from home
Main Purpose
To support the effective and efficient management of the Credit Team’s oversight and governance responsibilities with specific responsibility for:
- Credit Team planning and administration in conjunction with the Head of Credit and Credit Team Heads
- Credit Committee, Credit Policy Review Committee and Watch &
- Recoveries Committee Secretariat
- Support the administration of the Credit Team’s Procedures
- Support the management of the Banks Professionals Panel
- Supporting scheduled and ad-hoc projects/tasks and change initiatives
- Support Credit in the control and reporting of Credit Risk in each of the Bank’s lending units – primarily property related but also asset finance.
- This includes the review and analysis of submissions to ensure risk is appropriately identified, mitigated and complies with the parameters of Credit Policy and portfolio-risk appetite.
- Review and approve initial loan drawdowns, ensuring they are compliant with the Conditions of Sanction
Responsibilities:
Planning and administration:
- Maintenance of the Credit Team diary/schedule to ensure all policies and procedures are reviewed in a timely manner/in accordance with review cycles
- Maintenance and monitoring of the Credit Team actions log, prompting the individuals responsible for the Action, to ensure the timely closure of actions from Credit Policy Review Committee, Watch & Recoveries Committee, Internal Audit reviews, Compliance reviews and Operational Risk (inc. RCSA) Reviews
- Completion and maintenance of the daily credit papers & loan drawdown approvals log, preparing operational reporting as required
Committee Secretariat:
- Manage the daily Credit Committee schedule and agenda including the preparation and circulation of the agenda and papers, preparation and circulation of minutes
- Manage the administration of the bi-monthly Credit Policy Review Committee including preparation of the agenda, collation of agenda item papers, preparation and circulation of the Committee pack, preparation and circulation of minutes.
- Preparation and circulation of the monthly Watch & Recoveries Committees minutes
Professionals Panel Management:
- Support the management of the Bank’s central professionals panel list including requests for additions and deletions.
- Support the annual review process in accordance with the Professional Panel Procedures including review requests, collation of responses and preparation of reviews to Credit Policy Review Committee and the Lending Unit Business Management Committees
Underwriting and File Draw Downs:
- Provide assistance as required in reviewing and analysing submissions to Credit Committee
- Provide support and assistance as required in the review of completions for Property Development and Structured Finance
Credit Team Procedures:
- Support the administration of the Credit Team’s Procedures, working with the team to ensure that Procedures are fit for purpose and reviewed in a timely manner
Skills and Experience sought:
- Good Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel and PowerPoint)
- Experience of working in a banking environment/some experience of credit risk would be an advantage
- A team player with excellent relationship building skills and the ability to collaborate effectively with multiple stakeholders
- Strong communication skills: oral, written and presentation
- Good planning and organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and priorities and deliver timely completion
- Attention to detail
- Resourceful, with an ability to work independently without close supervision
